We DIG Community | Episode 6 | Finding Your Plant People w/ Robby Astrove

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first ever podcast - We Dig Community. Stay tuned for more episodes and please subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind our Service Made Social mission. In this episode we sit down with Robby Astrove, who is the park ranger at Arabia Mountain just outside of Atlanta, GA.

Robby has deep roots (literally and figuratively) in the city, where he is an ardent arborist and foraging fanatic. His ties in the nonprofit sector include Trees Atlanta, Concrete Jungle and more. While Robby works professionally as a park ranger, he also helps lead a number of fruit tree and gleaning-related initiatives for the community. This includes his latest event, Serviceberry Fest ATL, which takes place on June 3rd.

Robby has led several Community Bucket groups through the trails and open space of Arabia Mountain over the years, and his projects are never to be missed. We really enjoyed speaking with Robby about all things community, plants and trees, and we hope you like what he has to say as well!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first ever podcast - We Dig Community. Stay tuned for more episodes and please subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind Community Bucket’s Service Made Social mission. In this episode, we speak with Kat Jarvis and Kate Edell, two of our local leaders in Denver, CO.

Kat was the first member of our Founding Team in 2018 and led our Host Team in 2019, followed by Kate who took over as Host Team Manager in 2020. Both of them are transplants to Denver (who isn’t?) who found Community Bucket early on in their tenure in the new city. We discuss what initially sparked their interest in the organization, what it’s been like to help grow this community from the early stages in Denver, and how they’ve each benefited on a personal level. Plus, we dive into what they’ve been up to through Covid and how Community Bucket Denver plans to gain momentum in the coming months.

In this episode, we discuss…

  1. Getting Denver off the ground in 2019

  2. Finding love & friendships at CB events

  3. Making an impact throughout the pandemic

We DIG Community | Episode 4 | Launching in ATX w/ Ian Grossman

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our first ever podcast - We Dig Community. Stay tuned for more episodes and please subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts!

We DIG Community tells the stories of the people and organizations behind Community Bucket’s Service Made Social mission. In this episode, we speak with Ian Grossman, founder of our Austin community.

Ian is a former elementary school educator, a real estate agent, Jesse’s brother and the one who initiated our presence in Austin, TX. Ian was at our very first event in 2012 – he may have been dragged there by Jesse – but it planted a seed for him to be part of Community Bucket’s later evolution. We talk to Ian about his experience in starting a new community, we learn about his passion for the city of Austin, and we dig into his work as a real estate agent in the wildest housing market in the country.

In this episode, we discuss…

  1. The early days of launching in Austin

  2. What his team was up to during Covid

  3. Ian’s forays into podcasting, TikTok influencing, Real Estate and more
