ATL Tech Gives Back November 2018

Nov 08, 2018 to Nov 08, 2018

It’s a better way to meet new people… Guaranteed.

Our 4th and Final ATL Tech Gives Back of 2018 is November 8th!

All year, two homegrown Atlanta organizations, Hypepotamus and Community Bucket, have fused the power of volunteering together with startups for Tech Gives Back. For any newcomers, Tech Gives Back is a quarterly service event for anyone who works (or aspires to work) in the tech or startup ecosystem. If you give a damn about our city, this is the place for you! We work together to strengthen local nonprofits by volunteering with organizations who rely heavily on volunteer groups. Not only will you make a difference in the community, but you will do so while working alongside your startup peers.

For this event, we will return to some of the same nonprofits from September to give you a chance to have an even deeper impact and see your work flourish. There are 4 projects to choose from in the afternoon.

Rally your teammates, call up some colleagues, or just come alone… either way, you’ll be part of one strong and awesome community!

Here’s a quick look at the project partners we’ll be working with for the afternoon:

  • Park Pride: This group has been maintaining and beautifying Atlanta’s numerous parks for decades, using an efficient distributed model of neighborhood “Friends of the Park” groups who can take pride in their own community assets. Volunteers will work in one of the parks on trash cleanup, invasives removal, and other intense yet fun tasks!
  • Global Growers: Lend a hand in the gardens, and learn about all the crops grown on this impressive site for refugee farmers in Decatur
  • MedShare: This warehouse collects unused medical supplies headed for the landfills and instead ships them to hospitals around the world in need. Volunteers help sort, pack and ship thousands of pounds of supplies.
  • Wylde Center: Head out to Sugar Creek Farm in Oakhurst, this mainstay of organic community gardening. We’ll help with activities such as mulching, weeding, planting, and you’ll get to learn a thing or two about growing food!

Tickets are only $12, which includes:

  • Reserved spot in a seamlessly-run project with some of the finest organizations in our city
  • Snacks and supplies during the service project
  • Donation back to the partner organization
  • Drink ticket and light appetizers included at the happy hour afterward

You can also add a premium soft t-shirt for $12 at checkout!

So, what are you waiting for? We hope to see you on November 8th!

Thank you to our sponsors!
