September Weekend of Good

Sep 23, 2017 to Sep 24, 2017

It’s a better way to meet new people in Atlanta… Guaranteed.

REGISTRATION OPENS ON MONDAY AUGUST 28TH!

Our two-day September Weekend of Good will take place on Saturday 9/23 & Sunday 9/24. We’ll have projects with PAWS Atlanta, Global Growers, Frazier Rowe, Mad Housers and Cafe 458, along with social events after you volunteer (since it’s about having fun, too!). You can attend both days, or just one, but either way it will be a blast with great people and for a great cause. Here’s the lineup for the weekend.

DAY 1 – Pets & Plants – Saturday, September 23rd

  • PAWS Atlanta – We’ll help with general landscaping and cleaning the shelter, and of course help walk dogs! (Project is 10am-12pm)
  • Global Growers – We’ll lend a hand in the gardens, and learn about all the crops grown on this impressive site for refugee farmers in Stone Mountain. (Project is 9am-12pm)
  • Frazier Rowe Park – We’ll work with the Friends of the Park group in Druid Hills to clear invasive plants and beautify this neighborhood treasure (Project is 9am-12pm)
  • Social: After we work, join the group for delicious food and drinks in Decatur

Day 2 – Help the Homeless – Sunday, September 24th

  • Mad Housers – We’ll help on construction, and possibly deployment, for this grassroots group that’s been building huts for the homeless for more than two decades (Project is 9am-12pm). Afterwards, we will grab lunch at a nearby restaurant.
  • Cafe 458 – We’ll serve brunch in a full-service restaurant on Edgewood Ave run by the Atlanta Center of Self Sufficiency, which donates all proceeds back to providing services for homeless Atlantans (Project is 9am-3pm)

Here’s how it works:

  1. Reserve your spot for one of the projects before they fill up (spots are limited, see details below)
  2. Commit to showing up at the scheduled time
  3. If you’re feeling social, stick around for lunch after we finish working
  4. Tell your friends to join you, or come alone and meet new people. Either way, you’ll have a blast.
  5. We’ll send you information in a separate email a few days before the event, so stay tuned

Impact areas: Animals, Farming, Food, Homelessness, Parks, Refugee

Please only register if you know you can attend, as spots are limited and we do not like to disappoint our Community Partners with no-shows. If your plans change after you sign up, we ask that you let us know in advance so we can fill your spot. Thanks!
