ATL: Olympic Cheers on Leap Year
Becoming a world-renowned athlete takes muscle, perseverance, and a little leap of faith. Join us as we cheer on The Olympic Marathon Team during Leap Day with our partner, Back On My Feet. Give back, meet new people, and have fun; it’s what our Service Made Social mission is all about!
Here’s what to expect Saturday, February 29th…
First, We Socialize (10-11AM):
We will meet at the Hurt Park Fountain during the first hour before the race starts. Enjoy Chick-fil-A breakfast, make new friends, and get hyped to become the hyper.
Note: MARTA will be your best travel option as road closures and parking can be tricky downtown. Take your nearest MARTA stop to Five Points Station and Hurt Park is within a half-mile walk.
Then, We Serve (11AM-2PM):
After we are fueled up with breakfast, we will spread out along the course for a front-row “seat” to watch runners qualify for this year’s Tokyo Summer Olympics. You will receive banners, noisemakers, and more than enough cowbell to give runners the boost they need.
We take care of all the planning and supplies. For you, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3.
- Donate to reserve your spot(s)
- Stay tuned during the week of the event for an email with all the details about the day-of
- Show up alone, or come with friends. Either way, you’ll have a blast!
About Our Movement:
Community Bucket is a nonprofit dedicated to building the local community through social volunteering. Connect with like-minded neighbors who share a passion for giving back and having fun.
About Back On My Feet:
From Homeless to Harvard! Back On My Feet (BOMF) is transforming lives through the power of running and essential employment and housing resources.
Why Am I Paying to Volunteer?
The hard truth is that free events see up to a 50% dropout rate. With limited registration on projects, we want to ensure that attendees committed to volunteering have a spot and that our nonprofit partners are served well.
Your donation goes to good use; directly rolling into Community Bucket programming in your city, while also supporting the missions of our local nonprofit partners.
For this event, our partner, Back On My Feet, will also receive donations from Atlanta Track Club for every volunteer that attends with us. That means your attendance will fuel two local missions simultaneously!
We want our events to be accessible to everyone, so we will work with you if you are unable to donate and still want to attend. Just email Joshua Marshman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
