CB ATL: FeedATL Summer Series Part I
FeedATL is a weekly program taking place all Summer long, made possible by our partnership with the Food Well Alliance. We will be working with a hand-picked cohort of urban farmers who work hard everyday to bolster Atlanta’s local food ecosystem.
For Part 1, we will head to Gilliam’s Community Garden in Oakland City for a fun and impactful evening on the farm. You’ll learn about the important work this organization is doing to supply healthy and fresh food to local residents, you’ll get your hands dirty in the gardens, and you’ll get to meet like-minded folks in a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere.
For the service…
At this point in the season, we will still be bringing the ground to life and waking the sleeping soil in advance of the hot Summer months. We will do some weeding, crop thinning, and likely a bit of harvesting – nothing that requires too many skills, just a positive attitude and an appetite to sweat / get dirty!
Project will kick off at 5pm and go until around 7:30pm.
For the social… Pizza & Prints!
When we finish working, we have a fun “crafty” activity planned that will help turn waste from the garden into a small piece of art for your home. We’ll also have pizza on-site for dinner, along with some cold drinks to enjoy on the farm. It will be a fun way to wind down the evening and help you get to know your fellow volunteers even better.
